A Warm Welcome
Hello, my name is Pia. I'm a fully qualified and experienced counsellor located in central Croydon. My practice is within easy reach of both East & West Croydon stations and several tram & bus routes. Feel free have a look at my site, which I hope will give you an idea of how I work, and how counselling might help. You are very welcome to contact me to discuss your situation and the possibility of an initial session. You will find further information about how to contact me on the Contact tab.
I work with individuals both short-term as well as on an open-ended basis, with the aim of enabling you to gain a broader understanding of yourself and your situation and to, in time, be able to move on in your life in a way that feels right to you.
Life is not always easy!
Most of us experience times in our lives when we feel low or find it difficult to cope. We often try to cope and might manage that for a long time, years even. But even so we might have an underlying feeling of sadness, anger or feeling low and unhappy. Or maybe a recent event or experience in a relationship has happened and you have been thrown off course to such an extend that life feels overwhelming and you are struggling to cope. In either case it can have a negative impact on many areas of life and it can cause difficulties in your relationships with others; in your friendships ; your family as well as in your work life. We can feel very alone with it all at such times? Maybe your own thoughts or behaviour is causing you to worry? Maybe you just feel stuck at the moment?
Difficulties and struggles in our present can also have its roots in the past - events in our childhood can have a powerful impact on our lives right now - even though it might seem a long time ago. If you have experienced neglect or abuse
There can be many reasons why someone seeks counselling but here are a few - do you identify with any of these?
The list is long and there are many other reasons why someone might seek counselling.
How can counselling help?
You might already have tried talking to your partner, your friends or your family about what is going on but it hasn't helped or might not even have been a possibility.
It can feel very helpful to talk to an experienced counsellor. As I'm not directly involved in your day to day life it can feel a lot easier to talk freely and without the concern that you might be worrying someone else. You might indeed have been trying to hold everything in for a long time.
Making the decision to talk to an experience and qualified counsellor can help as it provides a safe and confidential place to talk. It can feel like some time-out from coping on your own and it offers time and space to explore your thoughts and feelings at a pace that feels comfortable to you. Counselling can give you an opportunity to reflect and to begin to possibly gain a different understanding of yourself and your life and relationships. Having counselling is also often the first step in starting the process to get back on a front foot again.
I am experienced in helping clients who have experienced difficulties with :
And more ...... Often it is a symptom or symptoms that will bring you to the point of contacting a counsellor and those symptoms are commonly anxiety, stress or depression. As we being our work together we will get to understand in a deeper way what might be causing those symptoms and that can start the process of healing and to begin to feel better.
